How to Unlock iOS 4.0 to iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS Without Wi-Fi Connection

This is a guide for unlocking your iPhone without Wi-Fi connection. For you to successfully do this, your iPhone must be jailbroken either using greenpois0n, limera1n, pwnagetool, snowbreeze or redsn0w.

What you need:

Jailbroken iPhone 4, 3G, or 3GS with 4.0 to 4.2.1 iOS.

DiskAid | Download [here]

UltraSn0w 1.2 deb file and MobileSubtrate deb file

Procedure:

1. Create a new folder on your desktop.

2. Download Ultrasn0w deb file, MobileSubtrate deb file and save them to the newly created folder.

3. Run DiskAid.

4. Connect your fully charged iPhone to your computer via USB.

5. Once DiskAid detected your iPhone, it will look like this.

12. Close DiskAid. (Do not disconnect your iPhone to your computer).

11. Turn off your phone, and wait for 25 seconds before turning it back on.

12. After a successful reboot, wait for 25 seconds, and turn your iPhone off again and wait for 25 seconds before turning it back on.

Now, you can have successfully unlocked your iPhone without using a Wi-Fi connection.

Enjoy!

Note: You have to reboot your iPhone twice. YOU HAVE TO DO IT OR ELSE THE UNLOCK WON’T WORK.

  16. hey man it worked! but it also did not give me the time and it says "exit safe mode" in the top instead of the time, this is kinda frustrating! I first downloaded ultrasn0w from cydia, and that didn't work, and now I do this, it worked but it says exit safe mode, what's happening!!? I removed ultrasn0w from cydia and now both the unlock and the exit safe mode disappears! Help Please!

  31. I followed your method for unlocking my jailbroken (with redsn0w)  iphone 3g with ios 4.2.1 and baseband 5.15.04
Well, it does not unlock my iphone. In fact it causes springboard to crash every time, and yet
when I touch "Exit Safe Mode", a windows appears that says
We apologize for the inconvenience, but springboard just crashed

Mobile Substrate /did not/ cause this problem> it has protected you from it.

Your device is now running in Safe Mode. All extensions that support this safety system are disabled.

PS: I followed your method very carefully and precisely as you state it.
It did not unlock my iphone, as I am unable to make any calls.

  32. While the phone was in safe mode, I started cydia and I saw that
2 packages needed updating.  They were Mobile Substrate and Ultrasn0w.

I updated both of them and rebooted.

The phone nol onger goes into safe mode and springboard does not crash.

    BUT.....

The phone remains LOCKED!!! Cannot make any calls.
and.... yes, I do have a good activated sim inserted into the sim slot.
Same sim works just fine in my other cell phone.

  33. I am alsofacing same issue :(

  34. Hey, I just completely removed Mobile Substrate and Ultrasn0w from Cydia & springboard stops crashing... :)

  38. Hello there!! I have tried EVERYTHING.. and I do mean everything and nothings works... iPhone still Locked! Please, helps us!

  39. If it's not working, you need to change your baseband (firmware) to the iPad one, the version that comes with 4.2 is too resistent to unlocking. Redsnow has an option to use "iPad firmware".

If you're getting safe mode, update Mobile Substrate from within Cydia. Other apps need a later version than the one you're using.
