Excessive Facebook Use Can Lead To Depression Among Young PeopleThe American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) issued a statement warning that excessive use of Facebook among young people may cause symptoms of depression.

“Those young people with low self-esteem may feel isolated, especially when they compare their lives with their friends, who are continually updating their Facebook pages with activities and new friends,” said Dr. Gwenn O’Keeffe a pediatrician from Boston, USA.

Other doctors also warned about the effects of criticism and negative comments that your people write in the pages of their friends on Facebook. For a person with low self-esteem, negative feedback from one of his friends can have devastating results.

The AAP recommends that parents talk to their children about their Internet activities, and to monitor the time young people spend on social networks.
