Microsoft has revealed recently that the giant software company has sold more that 350 million licenses of Windows 7. This data confirms the growth of Microsoft in the operation systems industry.
Only 18 months ago that Windows 7 was released to the world market and sales figures have been shocking. Everyone agrees that Windows 7 has been a great success for Microsoft. Clear evidence of this is that in the United States, Windows 7 has surpassed the number of Windows XP available on the market.
Today, more than 20% of Internet-connected computers around the world use Windows 7. The success of Windows 7 began even before the operating system’s release. In November of 2009, Windows 7 managed to exceed the market share of Apple’s OS “Snow Leopard” in just two weeks. In early February it was revealed that Windows 7 had reached 10% market share in just three months.
Windows 7 has also driven changes in the 64-bit computing. It also reveals that IT managers of big companies are looking for ways to migrate over 65% of its computers to Windows 7. Of that percentage, 50% will be on 64-bit systems. Microsoft also confirmed that in July last year, half of the Windows 7 is already working on 64-bits.
This recent development is a clear indication that the effort of Microsoft to create a stable operating system, safe and reliable is finally starting to pay off.
